I love you...to the moon and back

I have to admit...I stalk browse other photogs pages and get ideas or just sit in awe at the work they create. If you are a fellow photog...I probably look at your work all the time and it is all so beautiful! I love that each person has their own style...thats how art should be. I hope to gain more experience over the years and really be satisfied and proud of my work. Since I am a beginner...I practice as much as I can and recently I discovered I learned more than Ihave in a long time when it came to photographing the moon.

I just got some new lenses and was anxious to test them out. As always, on my own kiddos! They love it...majority of the time. haha! However I was curious just how well one of the lenses could work. So I decided to try the moon :) With frustration yet...lots of determination, I figured it out...of course with the help of Google (gosh I love me some Google! haha). Certain settings on my camera that I never quite understood...finally made sense. I still have some "hmm, not sure about this exactly" moments but wow, capturing one of the most beautiful things taught me so much. Now, before you peek at my moon pictures...mind you, I dont have a tripod AND it was my first take. Hopefully overtime I can get some really good ones.

Check out those craters! Pretty nifty huh? This was on June 26th...and I am assuming (although I dont know much about the solar system) that this is a half moon.

This was quite the exciting photo session....sometimes I cant stop staring at it...just so cool!

So as we tell our little ones goodnight tonight, show them the moon.....and if you're like me you kiss them and say, "I love you....to the moon and back" :)

Finger Painting....YUM!!

So Summer is here and I have decided to be...CRAFTY :) I havent had the energy to do much, like get out of the house, especially in this awful Houston heat. I googled and stalked searched Pinterest for fun ideas to do with the girls and try to involve Nathan as much as I can. I found this awesome woman who has all kinds of exciting experiments to try. Check her out on FB "It's Gravy, Baby".

TODAY we tried: Edible Finger Paint!!

The ingrediants were simple and included Koolaid for flavor...so cheap and so many flavors and colors!

I prepared it and told the girls to get into clothes that could get messy. Then I had them choose three different colors...they decided on purple, blue, and what they thought was green ended up being red.

Oh and this is Nathans reaction when he discovered what was happening. He is saying, "HUH?? edible??" tehehehe
I let it cool down and had the kids sit, gave them a piece of paper, and said, "okay start painting!"

At first they didnt quite understand..."mom really wants us to stick our fingers in the goo? hmm...is this a trick?" lol
They started drawinga nd quickly discovered the colors were mixing and asked for a cup of water to rinse so they wouldnt mix the colors. I excitedly replied, "nah, just lick your fingers!"

WHAAAAAT? Seriously mom??

haha yep, told them it was good (kind of tart but hey, they may like it)

Sure enough they licked it and well forget finger painting, this stuff was DEEEELISH!! :P

Nathan had more fun with his feet and less interest in the paint. haha However, this is how the girls started off...pretty and dainty like little girls do...cautious not to drop any for fear that mom my snap. But they dropped some here and there and eh, I clenched my jaws but let them have fun. They really enjoyed it...even stating that it was the BEST DAY EVER...which is usually what is said when we do a fun activity. :)

Yeah yeah, I had too much fun with Nathan. Drew a lil mustache on him and he thought he was the cutest...which of course, I completely agree ;)

Also, notice how the girls went from so pretty and dainty to lets be picasso and slap the paint everywhere? Aw, my lil artists!
BTW those suckers are STILL trying to dry. I plan on framing them and hanging them in their room.

And here is the final product..well of them..before I put them in the tub. They had quite a blast and are anxious to see what mama has in store next. I am thinking of doing 4th of July colors next time and doing it outdoors where they can include their feet :)

All in all it was fun and quite yummy! I am pleased to announce...I am becoming quite the crafty mom :P
Oh and I am going to start making bowties/hairbows as well for
props...keep an eye out for a blog on that!
